
Acting Instructor – Area Stage Conservatory
Area Stage Conservatory seeks a passionate and experienced Acting Instructor to join their dynamic faculty. This role is integral to the artistic growth of their students, involving hands-on instruction, mentorship, and collaboration in both classroom settings and production environments.
Ideal candidates will possess a strong foundation in acting techniques, a commitment to inclusive education, and a desire to foster a supportive and challenging learning atmosphere for students of varying skill levels.
Compensation
Starting at $15/hour (commensurate with experience and education)
Schedule
Lessons and classes may be scheduled between 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM (Monday–Sunday); Flexible scheduling available
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive acting instruction to students aged 5 and up, encompassing techniques such as improvisation, scene study, character development, and script analysis
- Conduct private lessons and group classes tailored to various age groups and experience levels
- Prepare students for performances, auditions, and recitals, providing constructive feedback and guidance
- Collaborate with the Conservatory team to integrate acting instruction into broader theatrical productions and curricula
- Maintain open communication with students, parents, and staff, adhering to Area Stage’s guidelines and procedures
- Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities to stay current with industry practices
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of formal teaching experience in musical theatre performance (private instruction, university setting, or professional program).
- Strong acting, vocal, and dance instruction skills with an emphasis on healthy technique for young performers; basic piano proficiency preferred for warming up students.
- Experience working with students ages 5 – 18.
- Experience or familiarity with acting training for musical theatre.
- Passion for teaching and mentoring young artists of diverse abilities and backgrounds.
- Professional experience performing or directing musical theatre preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
