Alexandra Fields O’Neale (An Artist Like No Other)
Alexandra Fields O’Neale (b.1989) is a visual artist based in Miami, Florida. She received a degree in Culture and Digital Media from The New School in New York in 2011. Her work explores themes of black identity, historical narratives and ancestral trauma through photography, video, and sound art.
In O’Neale’s public art installation Bound//Unbound on display from February 7, 2024 – June 2, 2024 at MOCA North Miami, viewers will experience the use of sound narratives that tell the story of the journey of enslavement through the Trans-Atlantic slave route and freedom through the saltwater railroads to the Bahamas by incorporating Miami’s history and involvement in the saltwater railroad as a mile marker to freedom.
