Capture Coral Gables 2025 Winners Revealed

The Coral Gables Museum proudly held the Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony of the exhibition Capture Coral Gables 2025 last Friday, during Coral Gables Gallery Night. The show gathered the works of 19 artists who resulted as finalists in the popular community photography contest. This year, in celebration of the Centennial of The City Beautiful, the six categories had a special focus on the past, present, and future of Coral Gables.

During a lively opening reception, the jury announced that the Grand Prize went to the work Sonders, by Lou Lozada. The black and white photograph depicts an urban scene seen through the window of a cafe, where light draws abstract patterns throughout the composition. The artist commented: “Once again, I was sitting in my favorite spot, enjoying a cafecito and reading a poetry book at Graziano’s; the beauty of the moment captured my attention; I grabbed my camera and took a photo. This was a perfect day…”

The six category winners were:

  • Cultural Fusion: Marta Tejera, for the work Komorebi_Perfect Days
  • Centennial Treasures: Marco Inzerillo, for the work City Hall of Coral Gables in a Crystal Ball
  • Gables of the Future: David Gary Lloyd, for the work Brick by Brick
  • True Coral Gables (Social Media Photo): Vicki Cerda, for the work Springtime in Coral Gables: Think Pink!
  • Curious Gables: Carlos Causo, for the work Burger Bob’s
  • AI Memories of The City Beautiful: Diana Perry, for the work Self Portrait

The Museum also announced the Acquisition Prize, a piece that will remain in the Permanent Collection of the Museum. It went to the work Brick by Brick by David Gary Lloyd.

“Every year, Capture Coral Gables grows both in quality and in popularity. This year we received over a hundred applications, and it was challenging for the jury to select only one winner per category,” said Yuneikys Villalonga, Director of Curatorial Programs.

“This contest and exhibition are very dear to us and are at the core of the Museum’s mission of celebrating The City Beautiful. Upon the City’s Centennial this year, it is important that the voices of the community come together to portrait and imagine the future of Coral Gables,” said Elvis Fuentes, Director of the Museum.

Throughout the run of the show, the public will be able to vote for The People’s Choice Award, which will be revealed on Friday, June 13th, 2025, via the Museum’s social media platforms. You can also vote here.

The Museum thanks all participants, jurors, and supporters of this initiative. In celebration of the winners and in anticipation of the People’s Choice announcement, the public are invited to a Meet & Greet Happy Hour at JohnMartin’s on Friday, June 13th, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

The Capture Coral Gables 2025 exhibition remains on view at the Coral Gables Museum through June 15, 2025, offering visitors a dynamic portrait of The City Beautiful through the lens of its residents.
