Marianela Perez (The Wonder Woman of Abstract Visual Art)

Marianela Pérez is a visual artist who has developed her voice in painting, photography, and digital art. She graduated in Commercial Art at Endicott College in Massachusetts. In Venezuela, she obtained the title of Environmental Designer at the Villasmil De Leon Design Institute. Pérez’s ventures into painting were guided by national and international art masters. It was then that she began experimenting with different media and discovering color as a language. She continued with specialized courses in painting at the Boca Raton Art School and photography at the Roberto Mata School of Photography in Caracas.

Pérez’s work has been shown in exhibitions since 2001. Since 2009, her art has been exhibited at both collective and solo exhibitions in Caracas, New York, London, and Miami. In 2017, she relocated to Miami where she began closely investigating her language of color trapped in abstract forms. This process allowed her to perceive, interpret reality, and give aesthetic meaning to her subjectivity. Pérez continues to have her art featured in South Florida including Miami Dade College’s Hialeah Campus, Spanish River Library in Boca Raton, and the Hernán Gamboa Gallery in Coral Gables.

Photography is pivotal in all of her work in which she transforms the apparently visible (i.e., urban landscapes and everyday objects) into abstract and unique outcomes. In her digital art, she superimposes images in the form of collages in which the urban theme predominates. A pure harmony of lines and a distinct combination of colors invite the viewer to contemplate her work.

Marianela Perez’s Statement

I am able to transform the apparently visible into abstract images — noise into music, hazy sights into illuminated reflections. My paintings express the nature of color, the abstract, and fractal geometry. I am inspired by travel, and the freedom and joy of being alive. My art transcends the concept of time and space, color, and shape into other dimensions and captures movement where they can coexist in reality.
